Would you like to visit the Australian outback? Why/Why not? A synopsis Sue Charlton has spent a few weeks touring Australia and sending back articles and photographs to her New York newspaper. Just before she returns to America, she hears about a man who was attacked by a crocodile. She decides to interview him and is taken to Walkabout Creek where Michael J. Crocodile Dundee runs Never-Never Safaris. Dundee promises to take her to the place where he was attacked and they begin a three-day journey on foot through the Australian bush. As they travel through the bush, Sue learns to respect Mick s knowledge of the animals, the dangers and the techniques needed for survival, although she does not realise that sometimes he is making fun of her. When he rescues her from a crocodile she realises just how dangerous the bush can be for an inexperienced person. While they are camping in the outback they meet Neville, a young Aborigine from the city, whose father is a tribal elder and Sue tries to photograph a corroboree, a traditional Aboriginal ceremony. Before she leaves Australia Sue persuades Mick to return to New York with her. The film makes fun of the way the Australian bushman reacts to life in the busy American city and the way he deals with unexpected situations. Mick has such an open and sociable personality that he has soon made friends with everyone from the hotel doorman to the chauffeur and when he gets into trouble with New York gangsters, he is rescued just in time. Sue s American boyfriend is jealous of Mick and makes fun of him. At a big dinner party he announces that he intends to marry her and gives her a beautiful diamond ring. Mick is disappointed and goes walkabout, but he only reaches the nearest subway when Sue arrives to tell him she loves him. A pond in the Australian bush.
