Obiettivo di TIME OFF è la revisione di funzioni e strutture della lingua inglese del 1° Biennio mediante attività coinvolgenti che lo studente può effettuare autonomamente. Il libro è organizzato in modo chiaro, i contenuti sono articolati in modo semplice, coprono un’ampia gamma di temi e le istruzioni per eseguire le attività sono fornite in italiano. Il testo è costituito da attività orali e scritte, ma anche giochi e test, per non dimenticare l’inglese imparato a scuola durante l’anno e per rafforzare le competenze linguistiche acquisite. Pertanto, può costituire sia l’ideale libro per le vacanze estive che un utile testo di supporto durante l’anno scolastico.
 Suddiviso in otto settimane, il testo presenta in ognuna argomenti attuali e protagonisti con gusti ed interessi vicini a quelli dei “teenagers”. Da qui lo spunto per una serie di accattivanti attività di lettura, ascolto, espressione orale e scritta in cui l’inglese è utilizzato in situazioni concrete ed autentiche.
 
 Ogni settimana prende avvio da una lettura, un ascolto o un gioco che introducono il tema centrale delle attività presentato su due pagine.
 Vengono poi sviluppate le abilità linguistiche – nell’ordine: Reading, Listening, Speaking e Writing – ad ognuna delle quali viene dedicata una pagina.
 La pagina di Communication, prevede attività comunicative quali, per esempio, completamento o riordino di dialoghi.
 La pagina denominata Vocabulary, è dedicata all’acquisizione del lessico tramite giochi enigmistici, test ed esercizi di abbinamento.
 
 Infine, la settimana si chiude con due pagine dedicate al ripasso delle strutture grammaticali e all’utilizzo delle stesse (Grammar), con esercizi di completamento, trasformazione, costruzioni di frasi, individuazioni di errori, ecc.
 Per una revisione più completa, alla pagina grammaticale di ciascuna settimana – dove le strutture sono presentate tramite schemi e spiegazioni dettagliate in lingua italiana e con esempi – viene affiancata a fondo libro una pagina con quadri riassuntivi, approfondimenti ed integrazioni.
 
 In ogni settimana viene proposta almeno un’attività della tipologia degli esami di certificazione linguistica KET e PET.
 
 Un glossario – denominato Useful Words – al fondo di ogni attività facilita la comprensione.
 
 È inoltre a disposizione degli insegnanti un fascicolo con le soluzioni degli esercizi e un test finale per ciascuno dei due volumi. I docenti potranno così verificare l’avvenuto ripasso o effettuare attività di revisione all’inizio o durante l’anno.

Jobs of the future We now think that 65% of current students will end up in jobs that have not been invented yet. These are literally the jobs of the future. In the future, a young man or woman who is now studying business administration will probably get the chance of becoming a CORPORATE DISRUPTER. He will be an expert in  organised chaos  in order to encourage a start-up culture in large corporations. Start-ups will be encouraged to get fresh ideas in business. Of course, this kind of manager will have to follow all the news and trends in the future business world. In a different field, a FOOD CHEMIST will develop and improve the taste and the texture of food. This profession will have an unexpected boom thanks to the new 3D printers which can print everything, even food. The NASA has recently announced plans to print pizza in space! So, we ll see the developments of this job in which not only experience in chemistry and cookery are required, but also the knowledge of the latest technological and culinary trends. Another unexpected future job will be the ANIMAL MIGRATION ENGINEER. The spreading of human civilization has negatively affected the life of animals. Moving them from highly civilized places to new, similar or artificial areas may soon save them from extinction. This will be the task of the animal migration engineer: finding out which animal species migrate, where they can migrate and creating an  assisted migration . This job will require a lot of research, both in technology and in biology. Another profession of the future will be the TECHNOLOGY DETOX THERAPIST. Everybody knows that technology can be addictive. Technology is useful, it is becoming more and more part of our daily lives and the trend is only going to rise. In extreme cases, specialists in separating people from their technology will be necessary. They will help people to control their usage of technology, studying the psychological impact of technology on humans. A new job in future schools will be the HACKSCHOOLING EXPERT. S/He is a teacher who encourages students to explore and experience the possibilities of technologies, rather than following the traditional paths in education. Education will have to meet the demands of any future technologically-advanced society.
