We all get angry now and again, but going mad all the time can lead to trouble. It is time you chilled out. There are so many reasons to get angry: your little brother slamming the bathroom door in your face; not getting the grades you want at school; quarrelling with your best mate. You can be upset, but sometimes you think you are going to explode and start yelling at anyone you meet! (1) Stop and think. After you get mega-angry , you shout and go away slamming every door behind you but you don t usually feel any better. A few minutes later, you calm down, do a reality check and you ll probably start seeing things from a different point of view. (2) Losing your temper can mean losing the argument, too, even if you were in the right to start with. Eventually, you will feel stressed. So, instead of going red with rage, count to 10 and set your temper switch back to cool. Here are some tips to rein your rage fast. Don t think negative thoughts like everyone hates me or people think I m an idiot . Give yourself a break: bad things happen and if you can t change them, don t brood on them. (3) Keep a diary of all the positive stuff in your life: you ll have an instant reminder of how fabulous things can be! Recognise your feelings, learn to spot the anger signs as they start. (4) If someone is upsetting you, tell him/her you don t want to talk right now and then walk away. Cool off. (5) Lose yourself in your favourite magazine or book, watch a funny DVD, text your best mate, do whatever it takes to calm down. Then go back and talk about the problem as reasonably as you can.
