A chi è rivolto il testo
 Questa grammatica presenta tutte le strutture indicate nel Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento comprese nei livelli da A1 a C1 ed è rivolta agli studenti di Scuola Secondaria di Secondo Grado di qualsiasi tipo di indirizzo. Essa può essere utilizzata per uno studio sia in classe che autonomo.
 
 
 Struttura del testo
 La parte normativa
 Si compone di 20 macro-aree grammaticali, divise in 118 argomenti strutturali con sezione normativa sulla pagina di sinistra e sezione pratica sulla pagina di destra per un più agevole percorso di lettura e comprensione.
 L’esposizione delle regole è spesso suddivisa in una prima parte che riguarda la forma, seguita da una seconda dedicata all’uso, cioè alle varie situazioni nelle quali la struttura può essere utilizzata. Le spiegazioni snelle ed esaustive sono sempre in italiano ma sono corredate da numerosi esempi in inglese con traduzione a fianco; attraverso un’analisi comparativa con l’italiano, esse portano lo studente a soffermarsi sulle analogie e sulle differenze tra le due lingue.
 La pagina presenta un layout chiaro che aiuta a comprendere immediatamente la gerarchia delle informazioni, anche tramite l’uso costante di rubriche a tema e simboli:
 • Oddities – tratta i casi particolari, quelli cioè che si discostano dalla regola generale;
 • In Addition – presenta approfondimenti nella forma o nell’uso della struttura;
 • Communication – esamina gli aspetti comunicativi della lingua;
 • Language – espone variazioni e ampliamenti lessicali pertinenti alla struttura;
 • Grammar in translation – richiama punti particolari di speciale rilevanza o difficoltà nella traduzione da una lingua all’altra;
 • EN=IT – evidenzia le analogie con la lingua italiana;
 • EN≠IT – indica i contrasti nell’uso di due strutture tra le due lingue;
 • EN≠EN – individua i contrasti nell’uso di due strutture all’interno della stessa lingua inglese;
 • = specifica possibili alternative comunicative o grammaticali;
 • ! – punta l’attenzione su un aspetto importante della spiegazione o mette in evidenza un’eccezione;
 • ? – puntualizza le modalità per formulare una domanda connessa con la struttura trattata e/o l’aggettivo, avverbio o pronome interrogativo adeguato;
 • B2 – segnala le parti che si riferiscono al livello B2 del Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento. La parte normativa viene completata da un’ampia gamma di Appendici, indicate con le lettere dalla A alla Z. Queste pagine richiamano argomenti trattati nei singoli capitoli (ad esempio: le coniugazioni dei verbi be, have, di un verbo regolare o irregolare, l’uso degli ausiliari, i phrasal verbs, ecc.) o presentano argomenti nuovi (ad esempio: verbi, nomi, aggettivi o espressioni seguiti da preposizione, le unità di misura, le abbreviazioni per gli sms, ecc.).
 
 Sulle Risorse Online si trova il Core Knowledge, cioè una serie di schede che ripropongono i contenuti normativi di ognuna delle 20 macro-aree in forma sintetica e/o tabellare, permettendo di verificarne la comprensione globale: le strutture qui trattate costituiscono i nuclei fondamentali di conoscenza.
 Un indice analitico particolarmente accurato completa l’opera e facilita la ricerca degli argomenti.
 La parte applicativa
 Presenta un numero molto elevato di esercizi – oltre 1100 – che consentono un immediato momento di verifica dei contenuti esposti. Gli esercizi sono di varia tipologia: abbinamento, completamento, lessico, produzione orale e scritta, ascolto, trasformazione, inclusi esercizi tipici delle certificazioni PET e FCE, e sono disposti secondo un criterio di gradualità rispetto all’argomento trattato.
 Utilizzano materiale talvolta autentico e talvolta adattato al livello di competenza dello studente
 con forte presenza di attività comunicative. Sono spesso accompagnati da disegni che facilitano la comprensione degli esercizi stessi.
 Alla fine di ogni macro-area grammaticale, una batteria di esercizi – denominata Round-Up – riepiloga i vari aspetti strutturali presenti in essa. Tali esercizi comprendono anche la traduzione di frasi dall’italiano all’inglese, intesa come momento di controllo ulteriore della padronanza delle strutture e delle funzioni proposte.
