Research says that one out of two teenagers feels addicted to their phone and some people blame high tech companies for tragedies such as young suicides due to bullying on social media. Apple has announced that it is working on new ways to protect children from smartphone addiction. Joining me here today is Selena Hill, a child psychologist from Manchester. Well, it is, of course, detrimental to mental health. When there is no regulation given to a child, and they are glued to that bluescreen for hours, their sleep cycle gets disrupted, which leads to both psychological and physical problems. 3. ............................................................................................................................... Because compared to teens from the 80 s or 90 s, they no longer need to do things, or learn how to do them. Everything is on the screen for them, so they go out less, they don t look for part time jobs, they stay at home for longer and feel less need for independence. Basically, it is taking them longer to grow up and go out into the real world as they spend so much time in a virtual one.
