A Family Is...
George Peter Murdoch was an anthropologist who, in 1949, studied 250 different societies across the world to find the common features for a definition of family. This is his conclusive definition of family:
"A family is a social group who shares a common residence, economic cooperation, and reproduction. It includes people of both sexes, at least two, who have a socially acceptable sexual relationship and one or more children, their own or adopted."
