Note: The Past Simple is used for completed and finished actions and with What time...? and When...? Example: What time / When did you get up? MEANING: The action was going on (1) when another past action happened or (2) at some point of time in the past. Time expressions: while, when, at five o clock, yesterday. Examples: When he came in, I was looking at the project. We were decorating the house yesterday at three pm. MEANING: The action/state was a habit/ routine in the past but it isn t now.
