L’argomento.
 Lives è un testo di civiltà che intende stimolare la curiosità verso culture, popolazioni, abitudini e stili diversi dalla nostra per favorire la reciproca comprensione. I brani fanno riferimento ai principali paesi parlanti la lingua inglese: Gran Bretagna, Irlanda, Stati Uniti, Australia e Sud Africa.
 
 Ciascuna Unità presenta testi originali, informativi ed accattivanti, suddivisi per argomenti:

</li></ul>Lives è suddiviso in tre sezioni corrispondenti ai livelli linguistici delle tre classi della secondaria di primo grado:
 A1, A1+, A2.
 
 Ogni Unità prevede:
 
 <ul><li>un’attività di warm-up che introduce il tema del brano
</li><li>un ampio glossario, per offrire una lettura agevole e scorrevole
</li><li>diversi esercizi di comprensione, per consolidare l’apprendimento e stimolare l’analisi
</li><li>una rubrica dedicata all’Agenda 2030 e alle Competenze del XXI secolo
</li><li>un’attività di Do-it-yourself: compiti di realtà da svolgere in coppia o in gruppo
</li></ul>Ogni sezione si conclude con delle mappe riepilogative per singolo brano, utile supporto allo studio e all’analisi.
 
 La sezione dedicata alla classe terza include altri spunti per l’Esame di Stato, suggerendo, per ciascun brano, possibili collegamenti interdisciplinari. Il testo si chiude con delle mappe geopolitiche e un piccolo gioco: “Guess the Country!”.

CITIES & LANDMARKS Scary Experiences in London WARM-UP Hai mai visitato un museo? Descrivilo con tre aggettivi. Quali manufatti ti piacerebbe vedere? Di quali epoche storiche? WRITING SPEAKING 1 Do you think that London offers tourists only cheerful events? Well  wrong! There is a side of the city that only courageous people can explore. Try one of these experiences, if you dare ! The London Dungeon The London Bridge experience The London Dungeon is a torture museum and offers a macabre tour. To make the exhibition real, it uses live actors and special effects. The museum is divided into themes representing different events of London s history.   The tortures. Visitors can see various models of ancient tortures, then visitors are taken to a courtroom and three of them are sentenced to death!   Labyrinth of the Lost. Visitors are taken to a maze full of mirrors where they have to find the way out while actors covered with blood scare them.   The Great Plague. Terrible smells , dead bodies and horrible cries terrify visitors who think they are back in the Great Plague of London in 1665.   Jack the Ripper . Visitors walk along the corridors and see the victims of Jack the Ripper (1888) at every corner.   Boat ride to hell. A scary ride in total darkness takes visitors to the executions at the Tower of London. The London Bridge experience is a mysterious place and the tour guides the visitors through its macabre history and horrible executions. Actors take the visitors to the London tombs under the bridge, where zombies and ghosts scare people to death! For young visitors or school groups, the tour is with a special guide, the Guardian Angel, who stays with the group and explains everything. Highgate Cemetery 10 Highgate Cemetery Highgate Cemetery is one of the  magnificent seven  cemeteries of London, famous for the legend of a vampire. Maybe this is not just a legend, as some people say that they see the vampire at night and that it disappears when the church bells ring. If you go, let us know if you see it  or run away! It is one of the most famous museums of human history and culture, with seven million objects from all countries which document the story of human culture from the primitive era to the present age. One of the most important archeological objects is the Rosetta Stone. You don t have to pay to visit the Museum: like all the national museums and art galleries in Great Britain, it is free.
