L’argomento.
 Lives è un testo di civiltà che intende stimolare la curiosità verso culture, popolazioni, abitudini e stili diversi dalla nostra per favorire la reciproca comprensione. I brani fanno riferimento ai principali paesi parlanti la lingua inglese: Gran Bretagna, Irlanda, Stati Uniti, Australia e Sud Africa.
 
 Ciascuna Unità presenta testi originali, informativi ed accattivanti, suddivisi per argomenti:

</li></ul>Lives è suddiviso in tre sezioni corrispondenti ai livelli linguistici delle tre classi della secondaria di primo grado:
 A1, A1+, A2.
 
 Ogni Unità prevede:
 
 <ul><li>un’attività di warm-up che introduce il tema del brano
</li><li>un ampio glossario, per offrire una lettura agevole e scorrevole
</li><li>diversi esercizi di comprensione, per consolidare l’apprendimento e stimolare l’analisi
</li><li>una rubrica dedicata all’Agenda 2030 e alle Competenze del XXI secolo
</li><li>un’attività di Do-it-yourself: compiti di realtà da svolgere in coppia o in gruppo
</li></ul>Ogni sezione si conclude con delle mappe riepilogative per singolo brano, utile supporto allo studio e all’analisi.
 
 La sezione dedicata alla classe terza include altri spunti per l’Esame di Stato, suggerendo, per ciascun brano, possibili collegamenti interdisciplinari. Il testo si chiude con delle mappe geopolitiche e un piccolo gioco: “Guess the Country!”.

CULTURE, ART & LITERATURE Teenage Superheroes in Comics WARM-UP Ti piacciono i fumetti? Racconta alla classe quali fumetti leggi o quelli che vorresti leggere. SPEAKING 2 Do teenagers still read comics? The answer is yes, they still read comics and love them! Comics are fun, quick to read, full of beautiful graphics and generally cheap: this is the reason why boys and girls have them in their bedrooms. Also, not all superheroes are adults: some are very young, just like you! Here are some of teenagers  favourite comics, what are yours? Beast Boy and Raven Beast Boy is one of the main characters in the Teen Titans series by the DC Comics. He has got green skin , eyes and hair and big ears. He is a joker and can transform himself into any animal. He also appears in Fortnite videogame. Raven is another character of the Teen Titans. Her father is a demon and her mother is human, so, Raven is half-demon and has got special powers: she can make people calm, make someone fall in love with her and absorb the pain of people. She can also predict the future. Beast Boy and Raven are also in the Cartoon Network series Teen Titans Go! 12 Sam Alexander Sam Alexander is a member of the Nova Corps, an intergalactic police force of Marvel Comics. Sam is a young cosmic hero who wants to protect the Universe and the Earth. Through his helmet he can get the Nova Force, some energy that gives him superpowers: superhuman strength and telepathy. He can also fly and understand any language. Michelangelo His nickname is Mickey, and he is one of the four main characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is 13, he loves skateboarding, he is a positive character and has got artistic talent. He always wears a red mask over his eyes and his weapon is a Kundai Fundo, a long chain. Raccontalo alla classe. Superheroes and Superpowers Everybody wants to have special powers to use when we need it. Here are some: flight, to go away from bad situations; super speed, when we have a competition and our friends are too fast for us; invisibility, when we want to know what happens when we are not present. And why not super strength, when we want to smash things? But do superpowers have only positive effects? Well, if you want to be a superhero, you must also be very responsible of your special powers. For example, imagine you can generate energy blast: you must be careful when you use it. Or what if you can time travel and you change some important events? Well, it s not so easy being a superhero!
