Fremen’s Stillsuits The native inhabitants of the desert Arrakis, the Fremen, wear suits, called stillsuits, to protect them from the heat, cool them, and moisture and urine from their bodies in order to in the harsh desert environment. A stillsuit is a “body-enclosing garment” which performs the functions of heat dissipation and filters bodily wastes to regenerate moisture. Pumps actuated by movement of the (breathing), and others actuated in the heel, move the water through the filtration process, providing the necessary heat exchange.
