CLIP FILM STEVE JONS • PRODUCTION: UK – USA 2015 • DIRECTOR: Danny Boyle • STARRING: Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs), Joanna Hoffman (Kate Winslet), Seth Rogen (Steve Wozniak), Jeff Daniels (John Sculley) SYNOPSIS The film is not an ordinary biopic, i.e. a film that takes the audience through Steve Jobs’ life from the beginning to the end, but instead, it focuses on the launch of three products: the Macintosh in 1984, the NeXT Box in 1988, and the iMac in 1998. It is the specific portrait of a man in his most stressful moments. The film shows Jobs’ difficult relationship with his daughter Lisa and with his collaborators and former colleagues, especially Steve Wozniak and his former boss John Scully. His ambitions, his strong personality, and his often rude behaviour make it difficult for other people to like him, apart from Joanna, a long-standing collaborator and counsellor. However, we also see a man pursuing a dream of success that comes true when, in less than a decade, he becomes the CEO of Apple, the company from which he was fired. What strikes the most is the film’s intimate portrait of a man before a public event. In fact, we never actually see the launch of the products in front of an admiring audience, but only the events backstage and the minutes that precede the public event.
