REAL-LIFE SKILLS ORGANISING YOUR SCHOOL WEEK AND YOUR NOTES A lot of students are not well-organised and often study the day before an oral or written test. Here are some tips to organise your study and your notes. STEP 1: Finding out your deadlines for the following week 5 Look at the school register for the following week and write down the information below on your electronic calendar. Date and time of written tests. Date and time of oral tests. Date and time of assignments/homework. STEP 2: Organising your study time 6 Look at your calendar and for each test or item of homework do the following tasks. Then, report the information on your calendar. Consider how many pages you have to study and how many hours you need. Consider the time available each day. For each hour available on your calendar: decide on the subject and the number of pages you have to study. Leave enough time for revision. Try not to study the same subjects for too many hours on the same day. Leave time for breaks and a snack. STEP 3: Organising your notes Mind maps are a useful tool especially for revision. There are different software programs available. 7 Prepare a mind map on any subject you have to study, or a topic assigned by your teacher. Draw your mind map and compare it with a classmate.
