1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 2. Read and answer the questions. Living la Dolce Vita on the Amalfi Coast The picturesque Amalfi Coast is a hotspot for celebrities and bon vivants alike, its beauty has inspired generations of artists from all over the world. Martin Pettersson explores this Mediterranean gem. It depends on when you come here; in summer, being on a boat is a clear winner, renting a sailing boat if you are 4-6 people actually works out cheaper than staying at a hotel, and you also have a boat, which is a big plus when exploring the Amalfi coast. The only drawback is that ports are expensive. In spring and autumn hotel prices drop by 50-70%, then, staying in a hotel is a better option. The sea may be rough so staying on land is more pleasant for sure. The Amalfi coast has a reputation for being very expensive, however this mainly regards the cost of hotel accommodation. There are restaurants for all budgets and the quality of meals is great. Seafood, pasta and pizza I think are the best dishes to eat; try also some local wines and limoncello. Speaking Italian always helps, but you can communicate well in English especially at restaurants and hotels. In summer make sure to book hotels and restaurants as early as possible since they are often fully booked. I have only been to Capri and Positano, but I am sure there are plenty more places that are worth a visit. In Capri, for great views, don’t miss the beautiful Villa San Michele and the Emperor Tiberius’s house; also go around to explore the alleys in Capri town. Positano is crazily picturesque, but, anywhere you go, just walk, breathe and admire, the Amalfi coast must be lived emotionally...
