E X T E N S I O N DRACULA Count Dracula is the most important character1 of Bram Stoker s novel Dracula (1897). In 1890 the Irish author goes to Whitby in Yorkshire for a holiday. In that town he reads about the story of an old Rumanian prince2,Vlad III. Bram Stoker Whitby Abbey Vlad is a member3 of the Order of the Dragon (Dracul in Rumanian). He lives from about 1431 to 1477. He is famous because he is a very cruel person4. He puts a stick through his enemies 5 bodies. Then, he watches them until they die and has lunch in front of them! Stoker writes his novel after reading the shocking story 6 of Vlad III.
