 During the mid-19th century in Transylvania, Professor Abronsius – a vampire hunter – and his young assistant Alfred try to rescue a young woman from Count Von Krolock, a vampire. He lives in a castle with other demoniac creatures. The reader is the narrative adaptation of Roman Polański’s comical movie, parody of the horror genre. The Fearless Vampire Killers is enriched with inserts about the world of vampires (Dracula in particular) and monsters between history and legend.

E X T E N S I O N DRACULA AT THE CINEMA Nosferatu (1922) is a silent1 black and white German film. The German actor2 Maximilian Schreck is the vampire, Count Dracula. The film is an adaptation of Bram Stoker s novel Dracula. Nosferatu was an important film at that time. Dracula (1931) is an American film; its director is Tod Browning and the famous Hungarian American actor Bela Lugosi is Count Dracula. The film is the first sound film3 adaptation of Stoker s novel. Dracula (1958) is a British horror film; the director is Terence Fisher. The famous star4 Christopher Lee is Count Dracula. Bram Stoker s Dracula (1992). Francis Ford Coppola is the director of this American horror film. The cast6 has famous actors and actresses7: Gary Oldman is Count Dracula, Winona Ryder is Mina Harker, Anthony Hopkins is Abraham Van Helsing and Keanu Reeves is Jonathan Harker. The film has three Academy Awards for the Best Costume8 Design, the Best Sound and the Best Makeup9. Dracula: Dead and Loving it (1995). This American film is a comedy10 with the actor Leslie Nielsen as Count Dracula and the director Mel Brooks as Professor Van Helsing. It is a funny adaptation of Stoker s novel, but the film was not a success. Van Helsing (2004) is an action film11 and the director is Stephen Sommers. The title is the name of the vampire hunter12 Abraham Van Helsing from Stoker s novel Dracula. In the film there are a lot of monsters: Count Dracula, Frankenstein, Mr Hyde and werewolves13.
